Genius Hour Blog Post Week 2

My Genius Hour question is: How can you discover what interests you, and how can you add to it (even if there are "road blocks")? My goal is to find ways to help students find what they are good at and interested in. I believe that once you get not only a student, but any person for that matter, genuinely interested in something than they will become so engaged in their new found interest that it might actually be difficult to get them to stop what they are doing and focus on anything else. Their love will drive them to greatness!! However, sometimes, even if a person found what interests them, and their passion is immense, there can be certain "road blocks" that may appear. For example, if a person really loves to play sports, but cannot afford equipment, like the proper soccer shoes and a soccer ball. Maybe someone loves thinking of stories and sharing those stories with others and hence wants to become a film-maker, however, they cannot move to a place like Hollywood to apply for a job...what can people do to still do what they love, and still contribute to their fields of interest? To measure my progress I will try to see if the methods I've come across to deal with this issue can be transferable across any field and can be used in any situation.
