Assessment - Reflection

The two prompts chosen for reflection were:
1) Think about how you will use the Assessment page of your Digital Portfolio during your first teaching block. Provide 2 examples, writing 1 paragraph for each.
And, 2) Choose one professional learning goal from your AER Strategy Form that you would want to emphasis during a job interview. Post a rationale for your choice to your 8Y01 Dropbox.

1) - I can see myself using my digital portfolio during my placement in many ways. One way would be to use it as a personal online library. Whenever I have a discussion with my associate teach, or fellow peers about useful resources they have used, I can quickly log onto my digital portfolio and save that resource there in a new post under my 'Assessment' page. This way, in the future, when the situation presents itself, I would be able to go back to my digital portfolio and I would be able to select from a wide array of resources that I have collected through-out the span on my placement/ teaching block.
Another useful way I could use my digital portfolio would be by sharing the link with my students. That way, it could be used in a similar way to that which Sakai is used by Bock University students. My students would be able to follow the link I provide for them to get to my digital portfolio and there I could have, posted for them, the criteria I will be looking to asses, and even the rubrics/ Checklists I will be using. That way students will be able to revise their work and make sure they have everything they need completed in order to submit their assignments and get good marks.

2) - One learning goal I would like to emphasis on in an interview would be the learning goal related to improve the quality of student learning with assessment 'for' and 'as' learning. I would want to emphasis this in an interview because I feel, that out all my traits, the trait I am most proud of is my care. I really care about others and I want every student I come across to benefit as much as they can. Therefore I will go above and beyond what is asked of me, in order to make sure that I can improve the learning experience of my students. My religion teaches me to love for others what I love for myself, so with that being said, I know that if I was a student I would appreciate my teacher having my interests in mind, and therefore, I must become that type of teacher for my students. I will have to do a lot of assessment for and as learning in order to continuously improve myself, but I am up for the challenge!
